THE CULTURAL TRIANGLE, THE MOUNTAINS, THE OCEAN

Day 1 – From Colombo in the morning, visit the elephant orphanage in Pinawella (Bathing elephants in the river). Arrival at Kandy visit the Temple of the Tooth of Buddha which houses the most revered holy relic in Sri Lanka. Evening show of traditional Sri Lankan dances.

Day 2 – Matale has one of the most beautiful Hindu temples in visit Sri Lanka – Visit the Garden of spices with explanation in several languages on the use of plants. Long before the international diffusion of tea, Sri-Lanka was already famous for its spices and especially for cinnamon. Direction to visit Dambulla Golden Temple, considered one of the oldest Buddhist temples declared as World Heritage by UNESCO.

Day 3 – The Ancient City of Sigiriya : Ascension of the Lion Mountain to visit one of the most exciting sites in the country, the former Royal Fortress of Sigiriya, carved into the rock. – Ability to perform a ride on an elephant or a walk oxcart . Giritale and its lake…

Day 4 – Polonnaruwa The city is historically the second capital of Sri Lanka. World Heritage of UNESCO, it extends over 22 hectares and has many well-preserved monuments including three Buddhas carved into a rock wall. Visit a wood factory . Gedige Nalanda Temple ( the oldest stone building in Sri Lanka ), return to Kandy.

Day 5 – Kandy : visit the botanical garden, one of the most beautiful gardens in Asia. Before the arrival of the English, it was a royal park. Today it is the largest botanical garden in Sri Lanka covering over 60 hectares. Visit stone cutters and transfer to Nuwara Eliya.

Day 6 – Visit sri lanka tea plantation, travel through one of the most beautiful landscapes Kandyan will be a true encounter with the Sri Lankans. Mountains landscape with lake, waterfalls … Discover the city Nuwara Eliya..

Day 7 – Transfer to Colombo by road (if you stop at day 7) or continuation for crossing the mountains to Ella (possibility by train), ascent of Little Pic Adam.

Day 8 – Direction Indian ocean, visit Buduruwagala, superb wildlife site or 7 Buddhas were carved in stone (the largest measuring 17 m). Maginifique lake focus of many birds. Transfer on the coast of the Indian Ocean.

Day 9 – Visiting parks Uda Walawe and Yala, real reservoir of animals: elephants, buffaloes, leopards, birds

Day 10 – Extension up the coast by Weherahena ( boudha 40 meters , possibility of walking on elephant back or whales (in season) Visit Galle , Bentota ….
